George Rekers, Christ, and "The Long Stroke"

Rekers, who says his vacation with the male escort he hired on the rentboy.com site was all part of his Christian duty [sic], has told blogger Joe.My.God that, in as much as

"My hero is Jesus Christ who loves even the culturally despised people, including sexual sinners and prostitutes," he said. "Like Jesus Christ, I deliberately spend time with sinners with the loving goal to try to help them.

Apparently, full-body nude massage is also part of Reker's Christian duty. The male escort identified in the original story as "Lucien" consented to an interview by the New Times. Reker's escort told the New Times that Rekers:

is a homosexual who paid him to provide body rubs, once a day, in the nude, during their ten-day vacation in Europe. Rekers allegedly named his favorite maneuver the "long stroke" -- a complicated caress "across his penis, thigh... and his anus over the butt cheeks," as the escort puts it. "Rekers liked to be rubbed down there," he says.

Reker's paid sexual adventure gives new meaning to the "laying on of hands," as well as highlighting at least some of the underlying terror and personal fetish status with which many in the upper echelons of the Christian right surround homosexuality.

Lucien notes that he consented to an interview after a friend told him, exactly, who Rekers was, and that "It's a situation where he's going against homosexuality when he is a homosexual," and adds "In all honesty, he should disassociate himself from these [anti-gay] groups."

Good for you Lucien.
